PokerStars inks Brazilian esports deal
Flutter Entertainment-owned brand to partner with Latam esports group Furia

PokerStars has put pen to paper on a partnership agreement with Brazilian esports organisation Furia.
Under the remit of the partnership, PokerStars will be afforded branding space on Furia’s official jersey.
Furia CEO André Akkari is a current PokerStars ambassador and will form part of a new team of poker streamers as part of the new relationship.
The deal bolsters PokerStars’ fledgling involvement in the esports industry, having sponsored individual esports players as far back as 2016.
Furia is well-known for its Counter-Strike: Global Offensive team and also fields an outfit in the Brazilian League of Legends Championship.
Rebecca McAdam-Willets, PokerStars associate director of public relations, said: “The team at Furia work very hard, lead by example, and are always looking to improve and evolve. This approach, as well as their general ethos, sits extremely well with what we aim for at PokerStars.
“It will be exciting for us to see what we can bring our community and how we can engage new audiences by working together with such a passionate team,” she added.
Akkari commented: “Poker plays a natural part in Furia’s DNA. It’s all about making optimal decisions in the moment for long-term results. The partnership is a natural step for expansion as we look to move beyond esports.”
