Checkd Group names US head of operations as it secures Ontario licence
Affiliate bolsters North American footprint as it enters Ontario and former commercial head swaps Manchester for New York

Checkd Group has promoted long-term staffer Callum Broxton to become the affiliate’s new head of US operations.
Broxton will head up the firm’s US operations from New York and will oversee the deployment of the group’s FlashPicks brand, which is currently live in 15 states.
Broxton joined Checkd Group in June 2016 as a social media assistant before quickly climbing the ranks at the Manchester-headquartered affiliate.
He was named social media manager in August 2017 before becoming head of social in January 2019.
Seven months later Broxton was promoted to head of brand operations before being named commercial manager in February 2021, his final role with the UK arm of the business.
Broxton’s promotion coincides with Checkd Group being awarded its affiliate licence from the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO).
By acquiring the licence, Checkd Group will now be able to offer its affiliate services to Ontarians as the market continues to grow in stature.
This week, Entain was awarded its fourth licence in the market while online firm Pinnacle was also given the green light to launch regulated operations.
Speaking on his appointment, Broxton said: “On a personal note, six years on from first joining the company it’s a great privilege to head up Checkd’s international arm, just in time for the football season. We have some very exciting plans ahead and I can’t wait to get started.”
Looking ahead to the potential success in Canada and North America, Broxton noted the firm had been ramping up its efforts ahead of the NFL season.
He added: “To have gained our first licence in Canada is a major milestone, serving to underline the rapid progress since we launched FlashPicks in the US earlier this year.
“We have been working hard to increase the range of experts that we can utilise to help inform and educate FlashPicks’ rapidly growing community, and it is gratifying to be able to serve sports enthusiasts right across North America ahead of what is sure to be an exciting NFL season.”
Last month, Checkd Group named its former marketing and commercial head Will Tyrrell as the affiliate’s new director of UK media.
