Campaign of the month: NHS Charities Together
Public urged to follow in Santa’s footsteps and give back to frontline staff this festive period

The NHS Charities Together has launched a Christmas campaign encouraging the public to give back to frontline staff and volunteers after one of the most difficult years in public health history.
The 90-second ad shows nurses and doctors caring for Santa through a period of ill health, who then delivers presents and gifts once he has been discharged just in time for Christmas Day.
Set to a specially recorded acoustic version of British singer songwriter Birdy’s 2011 hit ‘People help the people’, the ad implores the public to return a small favour to those who have risked everything during the Covid crisis.
Proceeds raised from the campaign will go to NHS charities across the UK this Christmas to provide support to staff, volunteers and patients.
NHS Charities Together has also partnered with major brands to help drive fundraising efforts as part of the campaign.

Coffee giant Starbucks will donate 50p from the sale of every colour changing reusable cup, while Unilever brand Marmite is donating £1 from the sale of every limited edition jar.
Hair product firm Batiste will donate 40p from every sale of two versions of its dry shampoo product while clothing company Kindred is giving 100% of the profits from the sale of its new Rainbow clothing range.
Finally, independent retail co-operatives including East of England and Scotmid are selling a range of Christmas bouquets, with £1 from each sale going to the campaign.
Ellie Orton, NHS Charities Together CEO, said: “Hundreds of thousands of NHS staff will be working over Christmas and New Year. They do it every year but this time they’re also having to deal with probably the biggest challenge our health service has ever faced.
“I’m thrilled and so grateful that we have been able to partner with these brands to do something about that and show how much the UK cares about those NHS staff and volunteers and the patients they are looking after.
“So, if you’re buying pressies, think about buying one from this campaign. You’ll be giving back to the people who have given everything for us this year,” she added.
