Caesars debuts sportsbook app in Maryland as sports betting market launch nears
Operator opens pre-registration promotion as regulator pushes for accelerated review of applicants

Caesars has begun a pre-registration period for its sports betting app in the soon-to-launch US state of Maryland, the operator has confirmed.
As part of the pre-registration, the firm has offered Maryland bettors $100 in bet credits. The Caesars Sportsbook and Casino truck, which aims to educate and encourage users to download the sportsbook app, will also be stationed in the state.
Pre-registration is a popular tactic among sportsbook operators as it allows for the recruitment of customers and the gaining of market share prior to the actual launch of a sports betting market.
Caesars Digital president Eric Hession welcomed the launch of pre-registration, highlighting the value of Caesars’ “legacy” in the state.
“Today’s launch for pre-registration is a great way for Maryland sports fans to prepare for mobile sports betting’s full launch,” Hession said.
“We’d like to thank our exceptional local partnership team and state regulators for making this possible,” he added.
Caesars already has an existing presence in Maryland and has offered in-person sports betting at top gaming destination Horseshoe Baltimore Casino since the launch of retail sports betting in December 2021.
Caesars Sportsbook is the official sports betting partner of Maryland-based NFL side the Baltimore Ravens, with the Horseshoe Baltimore Casino serving as its official casino partner.
The partnership, signed in September 2021, granted the sportsbook naming rights throughout the club level of the M&T Bank Stadium, and additional exposure via animated displays across the venue’s LED boards.
Caesars also became the title partner of the Raven’s pre-game show and Facebook page, as well as the sponsor of its Flock Pick 6 predictions game and for all digital content related to the NFL Draft.
The US sportsbook and casino operator is one of 10 qualified applicants for sports betting licenses in the Free State set to be reviewed by the Sports Wagering Application Review Commission (SWARC) today, as the state prepares to officially launch.
SWARC was due to meet on November 21 initially, however that meeting was brought forward in order to allow for an accelerated launch, which could take place as early as Thanksgiving.
