Betsson appoints new head of mobile
Richard Smith named mobile boss as firm looks to build on strong growth on the channel
Betsson has named its former mobile commercial manager Richard Smith as its new head of mobile.
A spokesperson for the firm confirmed that Smith, who had previously worked at bet365, had replaced Altay Ural, who has since moved to a new role with oversight for the operator’s platforms.
Betsson has been growing rapidly on the mobile channel of late, reporting a 121% year-on-year increase in mobile revenues to £21.3m for Q2.
The channel accounted for 33% of total revenues across the group compared with 17% in Q2 2014, and more than half of sportsbook revenues are now powered by the channel, with former CEO Magnus Silfverberg previously describing mobile development as “the KPI I am most proud of”.
And mobile has been earmarked as an important area of focus for Betsson’s Europe-Bet brand, which it acquired in a £54m deal in June.
The firm plans to migrate the Europe-Bet site onto the Techsson platform within the next 12 months in a bid to boost its mobile performance.
