GiG and PlayStar Casino team up to enter Pennsylvania
Igaming operator looks to develop casino platform to entice customers from within the US state

Gaming Innovation Group (GiG) has signed a long-term agreement with PlayStar Casino, already one of its partners, over the provision of its platform technology to propel the casino brand’s expansion into Pennsylvania.
The new arrangement is designed to build on the existing partnership and will look to power what will be PlayStar Casino’s second and GiG’s third venture into the US market.
Figures from the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board for 2020 revealed igaming win reached $566m.
Considering that online casinos only went live in the state in July 2019, it has achieved substantial growth in a relatively short period of time.
PlayStar Casino, which is co-founded by industry pioneer Joel Wikell and chief business development officer Adam Noble, hopes that this deeper alliance with GiG will help it continue to provide a differentiated casino experience.
This will be achieved through a personalized engagement approach, supported by extensive market research, and insights into consumer behavior.
Per Hellberg, CEO of PlayStar Casino, said: “We are delighted to be partnering with GiG to power PlayStar’s expansion into Pennsylvania.”
“With our preparations firmly underway for our New Jersey launch with GiG, it was a natural progression to leverage that work and replicate our casino offering over the border in Pennsylvania.”
Hellberg spoke at length to EGR North America in May 2021.
