DraftKings hires former Verizon exec to lead content strategy
Brian Angiolet will join the operator in April as chief media officer to oversee content creation following acquisition of VSiN

DraftKings has recruited former Verizon SVP of corporate strategy and chief business officer Brian Angiolet as its chief media officer to support the recent acquisition of betting content platform VSiN.
In the newly established role, Angiolet will be tasked with overseeing and optimizing content creation for the online operator, as well as establishing its long-term media strategy.
While at Verizon, Angiolet led a number of content and advertising initiatives for the technology and communications giant, including broadcasting, sports and digital entertainment deals across Verizon’s Fios, media properties and partnerships with professional sports leagues.
Angiolet was instrumental in forging Verizon’s 5G partnerships with Amazon, Microsoft, and IBM.
Jason Robins, DraftKings CEO, said: “Brian brings invaluable experience to this new chief media officer position and deeply understands how the virtuous circle among sports, gaming, and content has the potential to boost engagement.
“As our media presence grows with the acquisition of VSiN, among other strategic moves, Brian’s creative ideas and insightful perspectives will further propel the possibilities of DraftKings content,” he added.
Angiolet said: “The DraftKings arrow is pointing straight up and I see massive opportunity to unleash this platform and integrate it with the world of content.
“To me, it’s all about enhancing the experience we provide, and I look forward to working alongside the team and our partners at this important juncture for the company,” he said.
Angiolet will officially join the operator on April 26.
As well as the VSiN acquisition, which DraftKings expects to bring in more betting-savvy users as the Nasdaq-listed operator has content partnerships in place with ESPN and Turner Sports.
It also produces in-house content via its DK Live and DK Nation sites.
According to a recent report in Axios, DraftKings had previously been in talks to acquire The Action Network but those discussions fell through.
