Future Anthem to expand player protection initiative with Gamesys
Companies team up on R&D project to assess the correlation between markers of harm and specific game types

Gamesys has teamed up with Future Anthem on a research and development (R&D) initiative to assess the potential of gambling-related harm across specific games.
The two firms will analyse the extent to which player markers of harm may be related to the games that players choose to play.
The research will take a deep dive in identifying practical markers of potential problem gambling as harm indicators now form a key part of customer interaction guidance.
Future Anthem stated that most of the research into problem gambling to date has centred on player behaviour, while this new project will focus on identifying whether correlation exists between markers of harm and whether it can be driven by the different experiences that certain types of game provide.
The foundation of the initiative is built on a successful engagement earlier in the year that used Future Anthem’s ‘Safer Play’ detection system, which identified markers of harm to risk-score each game session.
This was modelled on more than two billion transactions across Gamesys’ portfolio of UK casino and bingo brands.
Analysis of the results also compared player use of responsible gambling tools, combined with Gamesys’ own responsible gambling prediction models, demonstrating that the two approaches to player risk complement each other to detect potentially problematic gameplay.
Underlining their joint commitment and proactive approach to responsible gambling, both companies are now proceeding with a new R&D engagement strategy to further research the impact of games on markers of harm.
“It’s a privilege to work with Gamesys and to collaborate closely in such an important area as responsible gambling,” said Future Anthem CEO and founder Leigh Nissim.
“We all know how vital it is to both enhance and protect the player experience and, by working in partnership, we bring two highly experienced teams together to achieve great results,” he added.
The initiative is also supported by Gamesys supplier partners Blueprint Gaming and Roxor Gaming.
The research will be published on 1 November at the launch of Safer Gambling Week.
