Werner Becher steps away from data firm after playing key role in group’s recent development and growth

Sportradar EMEA and Latam CEO Werner Becher has left the data giant after three years across two senior leadership roles.
Becher originally joined Sportradar in September 2019 as its new MD of US sports betting from Interwetten where he served as CEO between 2011 and 2018.
Becher oversaw the growth, development and execution of the Sportradar’s betting strategy in America in his role.
In December 2020, Sportradar restructured its global executive team, which saw the firm establish international leadership positions to support group CEO Carsten Koerl.
Becher was named EMEA and Latam CEO and swapped New York for Vienna during the reshuffle.
Stepping up to C-level, Becher and the wider team played key roles in Sportradar’s listing on the Nasdaq, which saw the firm raise more than $513m.
Reflecting on his decision to leave Sportradar, Becher described his time with the company as a “whirlwind” which included the move to New York to establish the US betting business and leading on the group’s IPO.
Becher said: “After some serious soul searching, I have taken the decision to retire from Sportradar after more than three years and start a new chapter in my life, one where I take the company, the team, the memories and the incredible journey with me in my heart.”
Elsewhere, Sportradar has secured a partnership with Kindred Group to support the operator’s paid social media advertising via its ad:s multi-channel performance marketing platform.
