Sky Betting & Gaming head of engineering departs as exits pile up
Mark Strofton to depart operator after more than a decade with the firm in latest tech departure

Sky Betting & Gaming’s (SBG) exodus of top talent continues to rumble on after head of engineering for sportsbook and trading Mark Strofton stepped away from the firm.
Strofton becomes the latest senior figure to depart the Flutter Entertainment-owned operator having spent more than a decade with Flutter-associated brands.
He originally joined SBG in January 2010 within the operator’s software engineering team before being named lead software engineer in June 2011.
A series of senior roles followed in his first spell with SBG, with Strofton being named engineering manager for gaming, before reprising this role within the group’s sportsbook division.
Strofton was appointed group engineering manager in February 2018, before shifting to head of engineering in September 2018.
In June 2019, he was named head of engineering for The Stars Group, which was eventually acquired by Flutter.
In January 2021, Strofton was named head of engineering for trading technology for SBG, this was followed by his final promotion to head of engineering for sportsbook and trading in December 2021.
Strofton said: “SBG has been a massive part of my life for 12 years and provided brilliant technical and leadership challenges. I’ve had the pleasure of working with so many smart people; lots [of them] now good friends.
“However it’s time to try something new, and after a couple of weeks off I’ll be starting my next chapter. But, for now, thanks SBG and all the best for the future,” he added.
Earlier this month, head of commercial planning Mike White departed the Leeds-based operator after more than eight years with the firm.
