Magnus Leppäniemi leaves Malta-headquartered firm after three months in role

Esports Entertainment Group (EEG) marketing director Magnus Leppäniemi is set to leave the operator after just over two years with the firm.
Leppäniemi, a veteran of the esports industry, joined EEG in June 2020 as VP of marketing and head of esports before taking on the role of president of esports in September 2020, before finally being made marketing director in June 2022.
Leppäniemi also served on the EEG board before stepping into his permanent position between July 2018 and June 2020. He also had directorial roles at Sweden-based firms Wehype and DreamHack AB.
He will continue to serve on the board of gaming and esport investment firm RightBridge Ventures following his departure from EEG.
Posting on LinkedIn, Leppäniemi thanked his colleagues and friends at EEG and wished them well for the future.
He wrote: “Everything has an end, and tomorrow August 31st, is my last day at Esports Entertainment Group.
“It has been a journey with ups and downs, great accomplishments, and some mistakes, but that is a part of all great journeys. To all my friends at Esports Entertainment Group and partners to EEG, it was great working with you all, and I hope our paths cross again soon.”
In May 2022, EEG reported its EBITDA losses had trebled year on year while operating losses ballooned to $50.6m.
