Toronto-listed operator promotes Gino Appiotti to president of its international division with Bo Wanghammar replaced as Casino MD

The Stars Group today announced it has made a number of changes to its executive and product teams with managing director (MD) of poker Gino Appiotti promoted to lead the company’s international business.
The Toronto-listed operator revealed in its H1 2019 report that Appiotti had taken up his new role as president of the international segment in July having worked in senior roles at the company since 2011.
Appiotti will report into CEO Rafi Ashkenazi.
Director of poker innovation and operations Severian Rasset will now assume the role of MD & commercial officer of poker, while Asaf Noifeld takes over from Bo Wanghammar as MD of casino.
Wanghammar had been MD of casino for more than two years and will now assume a “new, broader strategic advisor role” in the company’s international business.
The new appointments were announced today as part of Stars Group’s financial results, which revealed a 2.5% year-on-year drop in international revenue in constant currency in Q2 2019.
The International segment covers the core PokerStars brand as well as the PokerStars casino and BetStars sportsbook.
“2019 has been and remains a year of integration, execution and debt reduction,” Ashkenazi said.
“We are committed to those key strategic priorities for the rest of the year while we also build our foundation and momentum to become a market leader in the US,” he added.
