Kindred Group withdraws Spanish licence application
Stockholm-listed operator ramps up focus on the US and Sweden after pulling out of Spain’s licensing process
Kindred Group has withdrawn from the Spanish licence application process after deciding to focus its short-term resources on the US and Sweden.
The Stockholm-listed operator applied for a Spanish licence back in December 2018, but ended the process in June 2019 as the deadline to finalise the platform for Spanish technical regulations approached.
Kindred said it will instead focus on meeting market demands in the US, where the operator recently launched its Unibet casino brand, and also in Sweden where operators are struggling to comply with new stringent online gaming regulations.

A Kindred spokesperson told EGR Intel: “Kindred remains fully committed to the Group’s strategic objective of increasing its revenue from locally-licensed markets and looks forward to revisiting its Spanish licence application once the process opens again.
“Kindred currently does not have any revenue from the Spanish market but remains positive towards this important region and continues to operate a tech office in Madrid.”
Multiple operators have secured Spanish licences from the latest licensing round, including Betfred, SkillOnNet, GiG and Casumo.
