The Stars Group awarded Swedish online licences
Pokerstars.se, fulltilt.se and betstars.se have been approved to commence operation from 1 January 2019

The Stars Group has been awarded online gaming and sports betting licences by the Swedish Gambling Authority, bringing the total number of licences awarded to 19.
According to the regulator, the license for online casino runs for two-years and pokerstars.se, pokerstarscasino.se, fulltilt.se and betstars.se all been approved to commence operations in the Swedish market with effect from 1 January 2019.
No mention was made by the regulator of the web domains included under the sports betting licence.
Last week, the SGA awarded licences to Global Gaming’s subsidiary SafeEnt and Videoslots, with the latter only awarded a two-year license due to regulatory infractions in the UK.
Licences have already been awarded to Svenska Spel, ATG, bet365, Betsson, Kindred, Casumo and LeoVegas. All of which were among the first to submit licence applications when the process went live on 1 August.
The Stars Group ranked third in last month’s EGR Power 50 rankings, with the report noting Stars boasts a “uniquely large collection of regulated gaming licences and ability to enter new markets”.
A spokesman for The Stars Group said the company hopes to launch under the new framework in January, adding that “Clear regulations provide a great opportunity to secure our position in Sweden. It’s a win for our players and the broader regulated industry.”
