
New Jersey takes over $95m in wagers in August
Online revenues reach $3.1m for the first three operators to launch in the state


The state of New Jersey has reported more than $95m was spent on sports betting wagers in August following a host of new retail and online launches.
During the month DraftKings, playMGM and PlaySugarHouse were the first to launch their online and mobile sports betting products and reported a combined revenue of $3.1m.
DraftKings topped the bill with an August revenue of $2.9m, taking $95,817 in bets per day. The operator recently took its one millionth bet.
Retail revenues reached $6m with Golden Nugget, Harrah’s and Resorts launching their operations in recent weeks.
DraftKings was the first to launch its online offering in NJ via a soft launch on the first day of the month.
PlaySugarHouse and MGM unveiled their online offerings towards the end of August via an integrated casino product and a standalone app.
On the MGM app launch, Adam Greenblatt, director of corporate development and strategy at GVC: “While time to market is clearly important, we are also focused on our proprietary product development roadmap which will see new features introduced quickly, and without 3rd party technology dependencies.
“The app provides customers the opportunity to place bets on all major US sporting events anytime and anywhere within New Jersey, and represents a significant first step for the joint venture’s operations in the US mobile sports betting market.”
