Kindred bolsters remote tech team with Madrid move
Spanish capital selected ahead of hot-spots in Europe and South East Asia because of “potential to find great talent”

Kindred Group has selected the Spanish capital of Madrid as a key location for expanding its remote tech team.
The operator said it has put a team of developers on the ground in Madrid because of the city’s reputation as a hotbed for technical talent.
Kindred’s Madrid-based tech staff are currently based in co-working office building, Spaces Rio, having moved there in June.
Sören Thörnlund, Kindred’s head of development, told EGR: “Kindred has a long history of very successful multi-cultural recruiting and relocation and this is now an additional way of growing.
“Also, as we are very good at virtual team co-operation and making the most out of a digital workplace, we are not necessarily bound to certain locations,” he added.

Kindred CEO, Henrik Tjärnström, told investors last month the operator has no immediate plans to launch in the Spanish market as he is mindful of “trying to do too much at the same time”.
Instead, Madrid was selected for the new tech space after an extensive search throughout Europe and South East Asia, purely because of the “potential to find great talent”.
The Madrid team will reportedly work on all of Kindred’s global projects with no immediate focus on Spain, and was assembled to support the operator’s existing tech hubs in Stockholm, London, Malta, Gibraltar and Australia.
Kindred employs more than 300 people across the six tech locations at present.
Thörnlund added: “Given our growth rate, we opted for a flexible solution with an excellent opportunity to quickly adapt to our needs.
“We looked at a number of options, including WeWork in London, but decided on Spaces Rio as the best fit for us.”
