Five gambling firms named in FT’s fastest-growing companies rankings
Bet365, Lottoland, Smarkets, Kambi and Spreadex all make the newspaper's inaugural FT1000 list

Five gambling firms, including bet365, Kambi and Lottoland, were yesterday named among Europe’s 1,000 fastest-growing companies in a new list compiled by the Financial Times.
Bet365, Lottoland, Smarkets, Kambi and Spreadex all secured a place in the FT1000, which lists the European companies that achieved the highest percentage growth in revenues between 2012 and 2015.
The inaugural rankings, which were compiled in collaboration with data provider Statista, only includes companies that generated revenues of at least €100,000 in 2012 and at least €1.5m in 2015.
Betting exchange Smarkets was judged to be the fastest-growing gambling firm during the period, securing 25th place overall with a revenue growth rate of 2,763% and a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 205.9%.
“It was brilliant to place so high in the first FT1000 list, confirming our status as one of the fastest-growing companies in Europe,” Smarkets CEO, Jason Trost, told EGR Intel this morning.
“The last couple of years have been amazing for Smarkets,” he added. “Programmes like the FT1000 help reaffirm what we are trying to achieve and are a big boost to the team.”
Lottoland was the next fastest-growing gambling business in 128th position with growth of 820% and CAGR of 109.6%, recording revenues of €100.1m in 2015. The operator also recently passed the €300m revenue run rate milestone.
Meanwhile, sports betting supplier Kambi was named the 657th fastest-growing company in Europe with a growth rate of 150% – the UK-based firm recording revenues of €47.7m in 2015.
Kambi CEO Kristian Nylén said: “To be named among Europe’s fastest growing companies by a publication as prestigious as the Financial Times is a real honour and further evidence of Kambi’s position as sports betting’s premium and secure choice.”
Spreadex (943rd) and online sportsbook giant bet365 (959th) also made the FT1000 rankings with revenue growth of 19.6% and 18.5% respectively.
German food and beverage company HelloFresh topped the list.
