DraftKings partners with Amazon Alexa for voice-activated fantasy news
New “skill” initially available for NFL, with wider functionality to be rolled out
DraftKings has developed voice-activated functionality in partnership with Amazon’s Alexa speaker, the DFS operator announced today.
The so-called Alexa ‘skill’ lets players ask the device for scoring updates on individual players and their fantasy teams.
An ad released today by the company shows a user asking for updates on Larry Fitzgerald, for instance.
The Alexa “skill” is available for NFL only at present, but will eventually be rolled out to all 10 of the sports DraftKings offers, per Yahoo.
The release is the latest in the company’s effort to make its product more accessible for casual users, with the firm also launching Pick Em games and new season-long leagues for groups of friends.
The use of Alexa is still a novel idea in the egaming industry, with Paddy Power the only notable brand to have an Alexa skill. The Irish bookmaker uses the device to give punters sporting news and betting tips.
