Shaked was offered the chance to retain his role in the combined business but has decided to leave the industry to become chief commercial officer at an as yet unnamed global music streaming service.
However, Shaked will remain at bwin.party in a consultancy capacity until GVC completes its takeover of the operator, which is expected to finalise on 2 February, with Tom Waters promoted to acting director of games in the meantime.
âWorking at bwin.party was an amazing experience,â Shaked told eGR. âWe have been through some enormous challenges which some of our competitors are only now beginning to face up to.
âI am extremely proud of our achievements in delivering consistent growth on Foxy Bingo, shifting the positioning of partypoker and establishing a platform from which it can now grow.
âHaving enjoyed what has been a period of enormous change in the online gaming world, my new role takes me to another young, but hugely exciting industry and I cannot wait to get started,â he added.
Waters previously held commercial responsibility for bwin.partyâs games labels and prior to that served as financial controller for the operatorâs Cashcade business.
âTom has unparalleled experience of our games labels operations having worked with and for the group over the past decade,â Norbert Teufelberger, bwin.party CEO, said.
âWe look forward to him building on the success of the games labels unit as we move towards the completion of our transaction with GVC,â he added.
Shakedâs departure comes just months after bwin.party director of poker Jeffrey Haas left the firm to become chief international officer at daily fantasy sports operator DraftKings.
